After leaving his hometown of North Bay, Ontario, to pursue the Hospitality and Tourism Management program at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, John’s career in the restaurant industry took him across various cities, including Toronto, Collingwood, and Sault Ste. Marie. Eventually, he returned to North Bay to settle back home.

In 1993, John transitioned into the financial services sector, joining the North Bay branch of Financial Concept Group. This firm later became part of Assante Wealth Management. In 2026 John joined Designed Securites, a partner who shares John's client first values.

In 1999, John achieved the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) designation from the Financial Planners Standards Council, a prestigious certification that recognizes professionals who pass rigorous financial planning exams and adhere to the highest ethical standards and continuing education.
